About the Mentorship Program

This production of The Glass Menagerie is presented by Paraphrase Productions’ Mentorship Program. This program allows young artist to grow in their desired craft by gaining useful knowledge, tools, and guidance from Paraphrase’s executive production and creative team members. Beginning in June applicants will meet with their Mentor weekly discussing their art and gaining hands on experience working in a professional theater company setting. Two months of training prepares the applicants to pull together a full production themselves- from conception to curtain. Director's Note

I am overjoyed to see how this show has turned out and absolutely humbled to have worked with such an amazing cast and crew. I would like to thank Paraphrase Productions (Specifically my mentors Paul Davis, Andrew Marderian, and Victoria Sanchez) for giving me this wonderful opportunity and guiding me through the process of making my artistic vision of The Glass Menagerie a reality. This mentorship has meant the world to me. I figured I wouldn't have a chance to direct anything without previous training or experience outside of high school, and had no idea where I could start to accumulate that experience. Additional thanks goes to my Stage Manager Maya Aizenman who learned alongside me, my producer Justin Gaudoin, my poster artist Anthony Tringali, the owners and facilitators of Paper Wing Theater for hosting us and lastly everyone who helped construct and decorate my set. I hope you enjoy the show.

About the Cast

Colin Skerritt - Tom Wingfield

Colin was born and raised in Monterey, California. He discovered his love for theater in elementary when he saw his brother perform in the school musical. He attended Monterey High School and was an active part of their theater program. In 2016, he was awarded The Edie Sabo Drama Scholarship for his achievements as a student of drama at Monterey High School. He has performed in Amadeus (Amadeus Mozart), One Man, Two Guvnors (Alfie), and Addams Family Musical (Fester), to name a few. Colin is currently studying at Monterey Peninsula College and plans to have a career in the performing arts.

Mindy Whitfield - Amanda Wingfield

Mindy is incredibly honored to be working with everyone at Paraphrase Productions! Bitten by the acting bug as a young child, Mindy has been acting, singing, movin’ & shakin’ ever since!  Born in Texas but raised in South Carolina, she earned her BA in Theatre Performance from Winthrop University.  Her favorite Stage Credits include: Ulla in The Producers: The Musical at The Western Stage, and Donna Johnson in Knocked Up by Satan, Brooke in Other Desert Cities, Leo in Nunsense, & Olivia in Twelfth Night.  You might even recognize Mindy in a currently airing commercial!  She hopes that everyone enjoys the show!

Maddie Jewell - Laura Wingfield

Maddie is thrilled to be a part of such a beautiful dream show! She is a sophomore at NYU Tisch in the Stella Adler Studio of Acting. She just finished Pippin(Fastrada), her first production with Paraphrase. NYU credits: Cymbeline (Jupiter/Cornelius/Soothsayer), The Crowd Goes Wild (Laurel/Lawrence). Favorite local credits: Godspell (Jesus), Pippin (Leading Player), Heathers (McNamara). Thanks parents for supporting me and reminding me to thank you for doing so.

Angel Gonzales - Jim O'Connor

Angel is 16 years old and currently attending his senior year at Monterey High School. He first appeared on stage in the Crucible. Angel’s favorite performance, and most recognized, is as Chief in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Over the summer he had the chance to take part in his first performance with Paraphrase Productions in Man of La Mancha. He is excited to be part of this show and hopes you enjoy it. Angel is profoundly grateful towards his director, Drew McCornack, and peers for the faith and support they took upon him.
